| The
world class recording studio at Sonoma
Mountain Studio Estate was
designed from the ground up to meet and exceed the expectations
of the most demanding artists, producers and engineers alike.
Acoustical and studio design are superb. There’s a perfect
mix of vintage analog and state of the art digital. Creature
comforts and aesthetics are beyond description. The most highly
demanded electronics and the world’s finest in instruments
come standard.
Special feature cabinetry, furniture and accents throughout
the studio are made from hand-chosen lumber milled from one
of the Black Walnut trees that stood on the estate property
for over one hundred years. Add to that a scenic backdrop
to die for and you have one of the most unique and inspiring
music creation and recording venues in the world.

The studio was over one year in the
making with a careful eye on design, craftsmanship and
finishing details. Expert advisors carefully guided the
project from start to completion.
Art Kelm, responsible for acoustical and technical design,
has been involved in studio projects for a long list of
artists including Don Henley, Neil Diamond, Bozz Scaggs
and James Taylor. He has also been a consultant and chief
engineer for Skywalker Sound, the Record Plant LA, Walt
Disney Imagineering and others. |
|
Scott Church, Chief Engineer
and General Manager for Sonoma Mountain StudioEstate, was responsible
for the selection and integration of studio electronics and
systems.
Scott has over 27 years in the recording industry across the
globe, working with Bob Dylan, Cher, The Jacksons, Van Cliburn
and dozens of other international and platinum artists.
The end result makes for a one-of-a-kind masterpiece.
The main room is topped off, 20 feet up, by a cathedral ceiling
with double peaks paneled in mahogany. The room also features
Cherry wood, Maple, Black Walnut and natural stone accents,
floor to ceiling.
Adjacent to the main room are two large ISO rooms with plenty
of glass for visual contact in every direction. There is an
integrated live rehearsal system wired for practice or performance
and direct to the control room if the inspiration is good enough
to take. |
The richly appointed control room features a vintage Neve 8048
console restored to perfection with just the right touch of
upgrades. And except for an impressive selection of outboard
gear, all other equipment resides in the adjacent machine room
that offers great visual and practical access.
Just as important as the acoustical perfection of the control
room is the inspiring view. And that makes tracking and mixing
both a scenic and sonic sensation. |
